To advise and support JBIC for pipeline and existing projects and political situation in Bangladesh. The provided service includes; (1) to gather political and economic news and deliver news clip, (2) to support JBIC to get appointments with government officials and private sector officials, (3) to support JBIC on pipeline projects and existing projects, (4) to support JBIC with business trips to Bangladesh, (5) to provide translation and interpretation service, and other services upon request by JBIC. Description of technical specialization provided by the firm:

The subject of services is as listed below;

1. To gather political and economic news and  deliver news clip
   • Gather political and economic news on local media and deliver weekly news clip to JBIC via email.
2. Follow up on emails sent by JBIC staffs intended to get appointments with Bengali counterpart such as government high officials including Ministers and SOE CX0s through follow up emails and phone calls in Bengali.

• Get appointments with Bengali counterpart as requested by JBIC staffs.

• To connect JBIC with Bengali high officials from the government, SOEs, and private sectors when requested by JBIC.

1. To support JBIC on pipeline projects and existing projects

• Keep contact with potential and existing borrowers (and/or any other related entities such as guarantors) whom JBIC have spoken to and follow up on their consideration on proposal by JBIC.

• Attend meetings (both onsite and online) with JBIC staffs when requested.

• Support JBIC to receive necessary documents including legal documents, documents related to environment assessment and loan agreement from Bengali counterparts regarding pipeline projects and existing projects through follow up emails and phone calls in Bengali. 

1. Gather safety information on Bangladesh before and during business trips to secure safety of JBIC staffs.

• To give directions in Bengali to drivers to reach destination in time.

• Find suitable restaurants for business lunch/dinner and make reservations.

• Accompany JBIC staffs to project sites for occasions such as environmental assessment.

1.  To provide translation and interpretation service

• Attend meetings (both onsite and online) with JBIC staffs as a Bengali to English interpreter.

Conducted a feasibility survey for SDGs business on sweet potato production, processing, and marketing for improvement of small-scale farmer’s income and reduction of postharvest loss. Description of technical specialization provided by the firm: 

• • Gathered and compiled most updated information and data on economy, trade, investment and incentives for investors (2018-19 and 2019-20) in Bangladesh.
  • Documented amendment of investment related laws/regulations including Financial Act 2020 (food processing and Agro products)
  • Provided information on business licenses and guideline for production/processing of sweet potatoes (EZ vs private/general land)
  • Identified top 5 most popular items of snacks and sweets among pupils and students in middle schools
  • Provided hazard-map to understand flood situation in Bangladesh.
  • Identified the frozen food value chain in Bangladesh (raw materials to end user)
  • Documented good practice or case study of other countries: organization of cooperative by small farmers in India
• Documented government’s policy and achievement of SDGs, especially for goals 2 and 12. Data on postharvest losses

To provide JICA Bangladesh Office with the 8 reports out of SDGs 1 to 17 with case studies and to provide JICA Bangladesh Office necessary ICT support in order to maintain “Bangland” website. For Objective (1)

1. All the work can be done either in English or in Japanese. To develop research plan on each SDG report (SDGs No. 3, 4,6,8,9,12,13,15 out of 17 SDGs) and obtain approval from JICA Bangladesh Office. Not limited but, at least each report should be taken the following points in to account.

1. Each report should contain:

1. Brief picture of each SDG with global perspective
2. Current situation and challenges in relation it each SDG in Bangladesh
3. Reporting of 1(One) good example as case studies of SDGs business, which address to each SDG in Bangladesh (Totally 8 examples of SDG No. 3, 4,6,8,9,12,13,15 out of 17 SDGs). Describe

• What is their business model?
• To which SDGs they approach
• How they approach… etc. 

1. Conclusion with key messages to viewers (Japanese Companies)
2. The current SDG 1 report in the Bangland website can be regarded as a reference.

For Objective (2)

1. To translate the draft contents prepared by JICA Bangladesh Office in to HTML style. The contents are basically written in Japanese, so it should be necessary to review the HTML page (how they look like in real web-page), then deliver to JICA Bangladesh office. The contents include 8 SDGs reports, which are finalized and described in Japanese by JICA Bangladesh Office based on the deliverable of the Objective (1).
2.  The consultant is expected to convert the draft data into HTML, style and provide it to JICA Bangladesh Office, within 10 days. The order is expected to be made in bi-monthly basis. The volume of planned contents is approximately 50 pages of A4 size of word files per order.
3. To provide necessary work for website management
4. The consultant is expected to deal with some bugs or security issues based on the direction of JICA Bangladesh Office as necessary.
