Narrative description of Project:

• To collect data on high priority sectors regarding (1) their production volume: number of enterprises; percentage share in GDP; factor (labor/capital) intensiveness (2) the production linkage (backward-forward), raw material availability, supply chain (3) market situation, competiveness, export value, import value of the raw materials and finished products, (4) EPZ production status, investment status (5) major hindrances, obstacle or any other issues. 

• To estimate the current and future market sizes of above sectors and recommend the ways to develop the market in Bangladesh, based on the above mentioned information.

Description of technical specialization provided by the firm:

  1. Collect and  present basic macro-economic data on Bangladesh, including the trend of GDP growth, GDP growth, GDP per capita, sector-wise composition of GDP and presented by Stacked trend graph, share of each industrial sector in GDP, growth of GDP by industrial sectors, , Capital, Investment (FDI, Domestic) , Money Supply, labor, cost of fund and other variables for the recent 10 years.Conduct   data collection on high priority industrial sectors, which are  Light Engineering, Metal Mold, Plastic, Agriculture, Food Processing, RMG, ICT, Pharmaceuticals, Leather and leather products,  from authorized secondary sources for example, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics; Ministry of Finance; Export Promotion Bureau; BIDS and relevant Chambers and associations etc. with regards to the production volume and value of production, number of enterprises (Large enterprises/ SMEs); scale of domestic market; percentage share in GDP; factor (labor/capital) intensiveness; Capital Investment;  Energy Situation; number of employees; production machine tools (origin); usage; share of Import/Domestic parts; area wise concentration; major countries of export; trade related data etc. for the recent 10 years. 
  2. Conduct thorough data collection on Motor Cycle sector from both authorized secondary sources and primary sources with regards to the GDP wise trend, production volume and value of production, number of enterprises (Large Enterprises/ SMEs), market share by producers, scale of domestic market and export share, percentage share in GDP, factor (labor/capital) intensiveness, Capital Investment, Energy situation, number of employees, area wise concentration, percentage share of imported (major countries/and domestic) raw materials/production parts, sales volume trend, number of sales retailers, subcontractors etc. for the recent 10 years. 
  3. Conduct thorough data collection on Bicycle sector from both authorized secondary sources and primary sources with regards to the GDP wise trend, production volume and value of production, number of enterprises (Large Enterprises/ SMEs/ Domestic company/in EPZ), market share by producers, scale of domestic market and export share, percentage share in GDP, factor (labor/capital) intensiveness, Capital Investment, Energy situation, number of employees (Domestic/in EPZ), area wise concentration, percentage share of imported (major countries) and domestic raw materials/production parts, sales volume, number of sales retailers and sales channel etc. for the recent 10 years. 
  4. Conduct a questionnaire survey at the retail/customer level on Motor cycle and Bi-cycle sector regarding number of retail shop by producers, used market size, customer satisfaction, complaints, age and regarding Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service (QCDS) etc. 
  5. Report the production technology/Industrial standard of the products, investment climate and Tariff structure (including parts of motor cycle industry), technology transfer situation and R&D, skill development, usage etc. of the above 2 products/sector.
